This post
presents some game titles, which created my favorite concept art.
The Witcher
I really like the style of those pictures. At first sight they seem to be very detailed but when you look closely, you'll notice single brush lines. These are screenshots from the game and it's really great that concept art was used as part of the game play, not only for pre-production purposes. I really like the idea of using various texture brushes. They can create a great effect in a shorter amount of time in comparison to basic brushes.
Alone in the Dark 5
I've loved this game since the very first mission. It has a great atmosphere, although all environments are filled with dark colors and dim light. The majority of darkness and very limited source of light creates an impression of hope. This idea is easy to catch on above images.
The Last of Us
The Last of Us art book is the best one I have. I'm using it almost all the time, looking at techniques and inspiration. The quality of this art is incredible, I bet artists were using 3d models and photo references for some of those concepts. Using this game's concept art as a reference, really sets the requirements bar high.
Assassins Creed
This concept art has great panoramic view. Those artist use texture brushes a lot and we can see some similarities to The Witcher's Concept Art. Those pictures also look very high reso but when you look closer, you can notice single lines.
All concepts presented above really inspire me to work hard on my projects.
